Thursday in the woods

We escaped any rain which was forecast, and had a brilliant day of refining our tool skills in the woods.

First by making elder beads and pens, and then with knives and saws and an axe, to create arrows and wooden mallets.

Then we went off on a stroll after toasted sandwiches at lunchtime, on the fire the children built and lit with charcloth.

To end the day the children shared what they had enjoyed:

"the sawing"

"using the penknives to sharpen a stick"

"making a bow with my friend"

"making a necklace and using the peelers"

"making a mallet"

"everything"
